My Planning Journey: Engagement Photos!

Dec 4, 2017

In case you didn’t hear, I’m getting married! I have to say, it’s been surreal being on this side of things for once after planning weddings for other couples for the past 5 years. I’ve (little by little) been showing my followers, colleagues, and clients bits of my engagement journey these past few months and I’m excited to now reveal our engagement photos! Engagement photos are always special. It’s usually the first time a couple gets professional photos taken of themselves.

I wanted our photos to relate to us as a couple in some way. My fiance, Adam, LOVES to cook. (I know, I’m a lucky girl!) It’s a big part of our home life to sit down together with a deliciously home cooked meal crafted up by Adam. So, I tried to figure out a way to incorporate that as either a setting or props for our photos. I thought of photos in our kitchen, where all of the magic happens, but needless to say, our kitchen isn’t exactly fit for a magazine feature, so that was out. Adam and I often times like to go on hikes and pack a picnic lunch while we’re out so we settled on the idea of a picnic setting for our first “scene”.  My maxi jumpsuit outfit is from Morning Lavender.  Makeup by Flawless Faces.

For the second location, we of course did the beach because, after all, this is Southern California! I borrowed a bright aqua dress from my sister to get that “POP” in our photos, but remaining within shades of the ocean. Oh, and my sister also did the hand lettering in the picnic photos that read “Your are my favorite adventure”. I got the travel bug to bite Adam in fall of 2015 when we went to Thailand and Cambodia, and ever since then, we’ve been on the search for the next adventure! (Our current one being wedding planning!)

We hired photographer, Brett Hickman  for our wedding and he took these stunning images below! Thanks so much, Brett!!
